The weather held off and the first Christmas Light Switch on organised by the Chamber was a huge success. The Gorsedd was packed, the bands played, choirs sang and Bluey, the Grinch and Santa were all welcomed with open arms by the children.
In a change to previous years format the Chamber ran the bar and provided Santa visits (with Chocolate Selection boxes free for every child kindly provided by Tesco Ystradgynlais) but the food and other activities were from local businesses. Places were offered first to Chamber Members and then to other local businesses. Loaf Kitchen Bar, Lle Tarw Coffee, Nellies Fish and Chips were all busy. As were Cae Glass Camping’s gorgeous alpacas and Big Henry with Elf Martin Lewis on board.
If you want to be involved in next years event please contact the chamber through our web page.
This free event, including visit to and gift from Santa was organised by the Ystradgynlais and District Chamber of Trade and Tourism with grateful support of Ystradgynlais Town Council (especially Clerk Betsy Morgan and Cllr Josh Morgan as Bluey) and Tesco Ystradgynlais Community Champion, as well as Mathew Thomas and Tom Hughes for their expertise, equipment and skills, plus all those hardy volunteers who helped set up (in the rain) and take down (in the dark). On behalf of the wider community we thank you all.
