Welcome to the Ystradgynlais & District Chamber of Trade and Tourism
Join us on a new journey to bring together our local businesspeople, collaborate across sectors and create a platform for enhanced communication.
We are delighted to announce the establishment of the Ystradgynlais & District Chamber of Trade and Tourism, a distinguished initiative poised to elevate the commercial landscape of our town and its surrounding areas.
Unified Trade and Vibrant Tourism
The Chamber is dedicated to fostering local prosperity by encouraging coordinated trade and dynamic tourism promotion. By bringing together local business owners and community members, the Chamber aims to create a platform for enhanced communication and collaboration across all sectors. This joint endeavour is set to enhance the economic growth of the area and highlight its unique position as the gateway town to the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.
Leadership and Membership
Chaired by esteemed business owner Chris Waldie of The Loaf Kitchen Bar, the Chamber is led by a mix of individuals with diverse expertise. Vice-Chair Georgia Burdett (Continental Animal Feeds), Treasurer Salina Loum (RGS Accountants), Memberships Officer Cristina Carrasco Chaves (Cristina’s Wellbeing Chiropractic), and co-Press & PR Officers Chris Richards (Roberts Homes Estate Agents) and Becky Roberts (Becky’s Cat Sitting Services) all bring their own unique skills to this exceptional team.
Initiation and Collaborative Vision
Chairman Christopher Waldie shared insights into the Chamber’s inception, stating,
“We set up a group early last year to discuss ways to improve footfall for our businesses. Town councillor Richard Millington became involved and communicated that the Town Council felt a unified voice was needed to promote the interests of local businesses at a local government level. We also felt it was very important that rural and service-based businesses, as well as organisations and groups in the locality should have the opportunity to be part of the initiative, and not just those on the high street. It was also felt that there was a need to promote tourist attractions and events to the local communities, visitors, and beyond. This really started the process to where we are now.”
Embracing Tradition and the Gateway to the Brecon Beacons
Ystradgynlais and district, with its storied history in trade – from the grand ironworks to the iconic Tick Tock clock factory – stands as a testament to its rich heritage. The Chamber aims to honour this legacy while showcasing the area as the gateway to the breath-taking Brecon Beacons.
